Halff’s Cleavelin and Llewellyn Jr. Receive Rising Star Awards
RICHARDSON, Texas — Halff Public Works/Transportation Team Leader Melanie Cleavelin and Tallahassee Operations Manager Mark Llewellyn Jr. were honored with 2023 Rising Star Awards in the AEC industry from Zweig Group. The award recognizes younger professionals whose exceptional technical capability, leadership ability, effective teaching, or research and public service have impacted the design profession.
“Servant leader, excellent communicator, proactive, responsive, transparent” —those are just a few words used to describe Cleavelin. In her 16 years at Halff, Cleavelin has advanced her career from EIT to Public Works/Transportation team leader. She exemplifies exceptional technical capability, leadership, effective mentorship and public service that benefits the AEC profession and the community. Cleavelin is active in the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) DFW Chapter and is the Transportation YOU committee chair. She is also the steering committee chair for the Halff Community Initiative (HCI).

Llewellyn Jr. is a proven leader known for his trustworthiness and genuine concern for the people of Halff, his clients and the projects he supports. With a rich experience spanning two decades in the AEC industry, Llewellyn has earned a reputation for being a hands-on project manager who deeply immerses himself in his work. He consistently prioritizes others’ needs above his own, and as a result, his colleagues at Halff regard him as a rising leader within the firm. Llewellyn serves as the steering committee chair for Halff’s Veteran Engagement Team and is the Florida Engineering Society Chapter president-elect. He also helps guide Halff’s workshare initiatives.
Cleavelin and Llewellyn Jr. join Halff’s RJ Endsley, who received the Rising Star Award in 2021.
