245,000 square feet
Brasfield & Gorrie General Contractors
This three-story, 245,000-square-foot United States Courthouse in San Antonio blends modern aesthetics with enhanced safety features. The MEP, ICT, Civil and landscape architecture were designed by Halff as a design-build project. The San Antonio courthouse achieved LEED Gold certification, surpassing EISA 2007 energy efficiency requirements by 26%. Green features include daylight harvesting lighting and a condensate collection system for irrigation.
The building’s design incorporated input from stakeholders like the GSA, U.S. Courts and U.S. Marshals, with government feedback integrated throughout. Key systems include a 900-ton water-cooled chilled water system, smoke control for the atrium and a dedicated HVAC for the law library. The ICT infrastructure was tailored to the specific needs of tenants, and close coordination with the AV team ensured program compliance.
This award-winning project met all P-100 design standards, delivering energy-efficient, on-time and on-budget results.
