65 acres
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District
This project involved the renovation of Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) and the design of site infrastructure to support the creation of a military medical campus. Halff performed Land Development Engineering (LDE) services, and was responsible for the design and coordination of grading, drainage, paving, utilities and landscaping for the new hospital tower, central plant and parking garage.
Halff coordinated with Fort Sam Houston, USACE and the City of San Antonio regarding site access and helipad location. They also worked with the local service provider for water and wastewater services.
The landscape architecture included the preparation of the design for a central plaza and healing garden, pedestrian areas, courtyards, lighting design and water features. Native plantings were used to promote a sustainable landscape. Condensate from the central energy plant was resourcefully used as a water source for irrigation.
